OVERWAVE
OVERWAVE
A Submission for the Game Off 2025 Jam
A frantic reverse survivor game!
About the Game
OVERWAVE is about you, a god-like entity that is tasked to kill the hero by summoning different units! YOU control the "wave"!
The Hero's health bar and xp bar are located at the top lef. Your Mana is at the bottom center and bottom left are the 3 different unit types you can summon.
The game doesn't have other mechanics other than summoning (see my conclusion and final thoughts section).

Development Details
This game was created specifically for the Game Off 2025 game jam, following the theme: WAVES.
- Jam Duration: I developed this game in a couple days.
- Engine Used: Godot Engine 4.5 (GDScript)
- Art/Sound: pixelart atlas from Kenney (https://kenney.nl/assets/tiny-dungeon), BGM from SketchyLogic (https://opengameart.org/content/nes-shooter-music-5-tracks-3-jingles) and some sound effects (Win/Loss jingles and level up) are from Little Robot Sound Factory (https://opengameart.org/content/8-bit-sound-effects-library)
I'd love your feedback! Please rate and comment below. Good luck to all the other jammers!
Conclusion and Final Thoughts
The Jam did not go as planned for me, I struggled to find motivation and my initial idea (a regular survivor inspired by Vampire Survivors / Brotato / Megabonk) did not feel right, at only 10 days left I decide to rework the entire game into a reverse survivor where instead of controlling the hero you control the "God" that summons the enemies. I quite like the idea although a LOT of refinements and proper systems must be put in place to make the game actually fun. I initially wanted the game to have a lot more content and make my own assets but that proved to be quite hard.
With that being said I am not too unsatisfied with the end result. Definitely better than my first game jam (this is my second)
Known bugs
- BGM doesn't loop
